INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Verizon Wireless has named Howard Bower Vice President Network for the company's Midwest Area. In his new role, Bower oversees all network operations across the 15-state area, including Indiana.
Prior to his current position, he spent four years as Vice President Network for Verizon Wireless' Southeast and South Areas. Before that assignment, he was Director Network/Midwest Area for GTE Wireless.
Beginning his career in the telecommunications industry in engineering with the General Telephone Co. in 1971, Bower held various supervisory and management positions with GTE and GTE Wireless. With the latter, he was promoted to Area General Manager Indiana, and then later to Director Network/Midwest Area. He has also served as a member of the Indiana State Wireless E911 Board and as a member of the Industrial Advisory Board for Purdue University's School of Electrical Engineering Technology. Bower earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering technology from Purdue University and his master's degree in business from St. Francis University in Fort Wayne, Ind.
