EAST HARTFORD, CT — Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, has named Michael Malenich as Director of System Performance for New England.
In his new position, Malenich is responsible for managing Radio Frequency (RF) Design and System Performance in New England. He also manages Facilities and Switch Planning/Data. This involves everything from maintaining quality control over voice and data calls, and designing the expansion of capacity and coverage areas to accommodate the growing use of wireless phones for voice calls, txt messaging, e-mail, business applications and entertainment. He will also manage a team of network test drivers. Verizon Wireless' reputation for having the most reliable national wireless network is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and women who inspired the company's national television advertising campaign. These baseline engineers drive more than 100,000 miles per month nationwide analyzing our network and providing quality assurance testing, making 300,000 monthly test calls of both the company's network and those of the competition's as well.
Malenich moves into this position with 17 years of experience in Planning, RF Design, and Engineering Consulting. He joined Verizon Wireless in 1997 as the manager of RF Design for the Pennsylvania/West Virginia region and later held a similar position for Verizon Wireless' Indiana/Kentucky region. Since May 2004, Mike has been the RF Planning Manager for the Midwest Area team. Prior to joining Verizon Wireless, Mike worked as a staff engineer for the FCC, and as an engineer and manager for, an engineering consulting firm in Northern Virginia.
Mike is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering.
