Verizon Wireless Expands its Network at Market East Station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

PHILADELPHIA, PA — In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents and commuters in Philadelphia, Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, has expanded its network with improved coverage in the SEPTA Market East Station in Philadelphia.

This network expansion is part of the company's aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year (more than $1 billion every 90 days) to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless voice and data services. The company invested more than $5.5 billion last year in its wireless network to add coverage and capacity, and to make available wireless data services such as Picture Messaging, TXT Messaging, and the new V CAST service which delivers crystal clear short content on-demand, 3D games and music videos to wireless phones from leading and respected news and entertainment sources and other innovative content providers.

Strong demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during the first quarter of 2005 as the company added an industry record of 1.64 million net new customers. Verizon Wireless now serves 45.5 million customers nationwide and is the nation's wireless leader in customer loyalty, setting an industry record for customer retention and lowest turnover rate, as reported by the largest wireless providers.

Verizon Wireless' high-speed BroadbandAccess data network is the fastest, widely available broadband wireless network in the nation, offering customers average speeds between 400 kbps - 700 kbps.
