Verizon Wireless Strengthens Local Network In Scranton, Pennsylvania

SCRANTON, PA — Area consumers and businesses will benefit from enhancements made to the local Verizon Wireless network with the company's upgrade to the Blair Hill cell site. The service improvement to the nation's most reliable network enhances capacity for customers along I-380 and Routes 435 and 307 southeast of Scranton.

"The benefits of this network improvement for our customers in the Blair Hill area include fewer dropped calls and clearer reception because more customers will be able to use their wireless phones concurrently," said Roger Tang, president—Ohio/Pennsylvania Region, Verizon Wireless. "Our focus is on providing more capacity and the highest reliability on our network."

Last year, Verizon Wireless invested $250 million in Pennsylvania to maintain and enhance its network for customers. The network improvements increased network reliability and paved the way for customers to better take advantage of this year's newest wireless voice and data products and services, including more sophisticated camera phones and advanced Get It Now® downloads.

Since its inception, Verizon Wireless has consistently spent more than $4 billion annually-and more than $5 billion last year-to expand and enhance its network nationwide.
