SCHAUMBURG, Ill — Verizon Wireless announced today it completed $151 million in enhancements to its Illinois digital network in 2005. This investment, part of more than $672 million invested statewide over the past four years, included building new cell sites and upgrading existing cell sites to:

  • expand the nation's largest high-speed wireless broadband network to areas within the state, enabling a variety of advanced services, including streaming video and other applications.

"There are numerous factors that drive our tremendous network investment," said Tracy Nolan, president—Illinois/Wisconsin Region, Verizon Wireless. "First, our customers are increasingly relying on their phones, so we need to ensure that we have enough capacity on our network to meet their needs.
