BROCKWAY, PA — Verizon Wireless has upgraded its Brockway cell site in northeast Jefferson County, enabling more area customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls, send and receive TXT and Picture Messages, and download games and ring tones while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.
This enhancement increases network coverage and capacity in and around the town of Brockway as well as along portions of both U. S. Route 219 to the north of the town and State Route 28 to the west of Brockway.
"During 2005, call volume on our network in Pennsylvania increased by more than 40 percent," said Roger Tang, presidentOhio/Pennsylvania Region, Verizon Wireless. "This network enhancement reflects our ongoing commitment to meet the growing needs of our customers and to provide them with the reliable, high quality service they expect from Verizon Wireless."
Nationally, the company has invested $25 billion over the past five years to improve and expand what is already the most reliable wireless network in the United States. In 2005, Verizon Wireless invested $250 million in Pennsylvania to maintain and enhance its network for customers.
