PITTSBURGH, PA — Verizon Wireless has activated its new Bellefield cell site that expands coverage and enhances capacity in the Oakland area of the city, including on the campuses of the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.
The new cell site enables more customers in Oakland to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls, send and receive text and picture messages, and download games and ring tones while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.
"This new cell site in Oakland reflects our ongoing commitment to meet the growing needs of our customers and to provide them with the reliable, high quality service they expect from Verizon Wireless," said Roger Tang, presidentOhio/Pennsylvania Region, Verizon Wireless.
Nationally, the company has invested $25 billion over the past five years to improve and expand what is already the most reliable wireless network in the United States. In 2005, Verizon Wireless invested $250 million in Pennsylvania to maintain and enhance its network for customers.
