Verizon Wireless Celebrates Grand Opening Of New Roanoke, Virginia Store In Valley View Mall

ROANOKE, VA — In response to the growing demand for the company's voice and data products and services, Verizon Wireless has relocated its Roanoke Town Square store to a new location at the Valley View Mall, 4801 Valley View Boulevard, N.W.

Verizon Wireless will celebrate the store's relocation and grand opening the weekend of March 11 and 12 with an array of activities, including special promotions, live radio broadcasts from noon — 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and magic shows and balloon artistry for the kids.

The Roanoke grand opening will also officially kick off the store's Verizon Wireless HopeLine® phone recycling drive. Through HopeLine, no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories are collected to be recycled, refurbished or sold; proceeds are donated to domestic violence advocacy groups or used to purchase wireless phones with airtime for emergency use by victims. All phones collected at the Roanoke store will be turned into support for two, local domestic violence service providers — Turning Point, the only domestic violence shelter in the Roanoke Valley, and Total Action Against Poverty's Women's Resource Center, which provides comprehensive crisis and advocacy services.

"Our HopeLine program is an easy way for community-minded citizens to support local domestic violence support organizations like Turning Point and the Women's Resource Center," said Store Manager Ryan Wheeling. "There's no easier way to help another member of the community than by donating a no-longer-used wireless phone through our HopeLine program. We'd like to encourage everyone doing spring cleaning to dust off their no-longer-used wireless phones, and stop by our new store and donate them to HopeLine."

The Roanoke store is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store number is (540) 362-4836.

Since 2001, consumers have donated more than 2.5 million phones to HopeLine and more than 500,000 phones have been recycled. Verizon Wireless has distributed nearly $8 million in cash grants to domestic violence prevention and awareness programs across the country.
