Verizon Wireless Expands Its Network With New Cell Site In Salem, Virginia

LAUREL, MD — In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents, Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's best, most reliable wireless network, has expanded its network with two new cell sites in Roanoke County. One site increases coverage and capacity in Salem, Va., along Bradshaw Rd. and Catawba Valley Rd. The other site adds additional capacity to the south end of Salem, along Route 11 and I-81.

These network expansions are part of the company's aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year (more than $1 billion every 90 days) to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless voice and data services. In 2005, Verizon Wireless completed more than $300 million in enhancements to its D.C., Maryland and Virginia network. The company has invested $30 billion — about $5 billion every year since Verizon Wireless was formed six years ago — to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new capabilities. Verizon Wireless is committed to continuing to offer customers the most reliable service available in the nation, including wireless data services such as Picture Messaging and TXT Messaging.

Editor's Note: The company's 'most reliable network' reputation is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women throughout the country who inspired the "Can You Hear Me Now" national advertising campaign. If you are interested in setting up an interview or ride-along test drive with your local Verizon Wireless test man or woman, please contact John Johnson at 240-568-1429.
