Verizon Wireless Makes Donation To The Family Service Association Of Howard County, Indiana
KOKOMO, IN — Verizon Wireless is donating $1,000 to The Family Service Association of Howard County for its domestic violence program, one of 29 equal donations to domestic violence organizations in the communities across the Indiana/Kentucky/Michigan Region where Verizon Wireless employees live and work. Nine other organizations in Indiana are among those receiving donations.
"Because of our employees' high level of commitment to their jobs, Verizon Wireless reported outstanding results for 2005, including having the most loyal customers within the wireless industry," said Greg Haller, president of Verizon Wireless' Indiana/Kentucky/Michigan Region. "We celebrate their success and honor their dedication through these gifts to organizations that, like Verizon Wireless, are working to make their communities better places."
The $29,000 in donations to 29 domestic violence organizations is above and beyond the normal contributions earmarked by the Indiana/Kentucky/Michigan Region for community giving in 2006. Domestic violence and other family safety organizations seeking funding can email Michelle.Gilbert@VerizonWireless.com for more information on how to apply for a grant.
In 2005, Verizon Wireless donated nearly $45,000 and hundreds of handsets with free airtime to domestic violence organizations across Indiana.
