Verizon Wireless Appoints New Director of Data Solutions for the Carolinas/Tennessee Region

CHARLOTTE, NC — Verizon Wireless, the nation's most reliable wireless network, appoints is pleased to announce the hiring of Michael Parker as Director of Data Solutions for the Carolinas/Tennessee Region. In this role, Parker will lead Verizon Wireless' growing and dynamic Data Solutions Team that services with training, client services, and advancing new products and data solutions to business customers.

"Mike brings decades of experience to our Data Solutions team and we are anxious to utilize his knowledge to reinforce our commitment to making Verizon Wireless America's strongest and most reliable network, " said Jerry Fountain, President of Carolinas/Tennessee Region.

Parker's team will present business customers with Verizon Wireless' industry-leading portfolio of wireless PC cards for laptops and broadband PDA's supporting many popular platforms: MS Windows, RIM and Palm.

The company now has more than 30.9 million data customers -- a 43 percent increase compared with third quarter 2005. Data technology is on the rise in businesses today, and driving that growth is the company's national 3G EV-DO high-speed network and an industry-leading lineup of business devices. In Verizon Wireless' last earnings announcement, data services revenues contributed slightly over $1.2 billion; nearly double the amount for the same period a year ago.
