J.D. Power And Associates Recognizes Verizon Wireless In Northeast And Mid-Atlantic Regions For 'Highest Call Quality'

WOBURN, MA — Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless company with the nation's most reliable wireless voice and data network, announced that the company has been recognized for the "Highest Call Quality Performance Among Wireless Cell Phone Users in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regions," which includes New England, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, and West Virginia, in the J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Wireless Call Quality Performance StudySM Volume 2.

The J.D. Power and Associates Wireless Call Quality Performance Study employs a call quality index based on seven criteria that impact overall carrier performance. The wireless phone subscribers surveyed were asked about their experiences with dropped calls, static/interference, failed connection on the first try, voice distortion, echoes, no immediate voice mail notification, and no immediate text message notification. Verizon Wireless also ranked highest in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regions in Volume 1 of the Call Quality Performance Study, issued in March.

"This is further recognition of Verizon Wireless' ongoing commitment to provide our customers with the best possible wireless experience," said New England region president Ken Dixon. "Our industry-leading customer loyalty is strongly tied to the performance of our network."

The company's 'most reliable wireless network' claim is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women. The engineers conduct more than three million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' and other national wireless carriers' networks.

Verizon Wireless has spent $145 million during the first six months of the year to enhance wireless services and coverage throughout the six states of New England, bringing the total network investment in the region to more than $2 billion since year 2000. Nationally, the company invests more than $1 billion every 90 days to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless' voice and data services. The company's ongoing network investment now totals more than $40 billion nationally over the past seven years.
