MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — If you've ever wondered what to do with those no-longer-used wireless cell phones, Verizon Wireless has a solution just in time for Election Day on Nov. 6.
At select polling locations in Montgomery County, Verizon Wireless will be collecting no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories through the company's HopeLine® program, which accepts wireless equipment from any wireless service provider, and then refurbishes the phones or recycles them in an environmentally friendly way. Proceeds from the HopeLine program benefit local victims of domestic violence and non-profit advocacy agencies, providing essential communication tools of wireless phones and wireless services, and financial grants.
"Domestic violence awareness and prevention is Verizon Wireless' primary community focus, and we encourage the Montgomery County community to join us in our mission to stop domestic violence and support survivors in emergency situations in our local community," said Verizon Wireless Philadelphia Tri-State region president Christine Baron. "I encourage anyone who has an old cell phone they no longer need to let us take it off your hands and turn it into a critical safety tool for someone in a violent domestic situation."
Collection boxes will be placed at the following locations and will be available throughout the course of Election Day:
- Montgomery Elementary School: 1221 Stump Road, North Wales
- Messiah United Methodist Church: 527 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill
- Tiferet Bet Israel Synagogue: 1920 Skippack Pike, Blue Bell
