Network Enhancements Give Verizon Wireless Customers In Lincoln, Nebraska, Something To Talk About

LINCOLN, NE — Verizon Wireless, the only major carrier with a 30-day network test-drive pledge that pays for calls if a customer isn't satisfied and switches to another carrier, announced today that it has activated four new cell sites in and near Lincoln.

This network enhancement improves coverage and enables more Verizon Wireless customers living in and visiting the area to use their wireless phones to make calls; send and receive e-mail and text, picture and video messages; and download games and Ringtones while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

"These new cell sites represent our ongoing commitment to invest in our network in Nebraska, particularly in Lincoln," said Nancy B. Clark, president — Great Plains region, Verizon Wireless. "We continue to add additional cell sites in the Lincoln area to meet the growing needs of our customers and to provide them with the reliable, high-quality service they expect from Verizon Wireless."

The following is a breakdown of the new coverage:

  • In southwest Lincoln — the new cell site near the intersection of South 40th Street and Yankee Hill Road improves coverage south to Saltillo Road, east to South 56th Street and west to South 27th Street.

  • In southwest Lincoln — The new cell site near U.S. Highway 77 and Wittstruck Road improves coverage south to Hickman Road, east to South 56th Street, west to South 29th street and north to Rokeby Road.

  • Southeast of Lincoln — the new cell site near U.S. Highway 2/Rokeby Road and South 146th Street improves coverage north to O Street, south to Saltillo Road, east to South 190th Street and west to South 96th Street.

  • Northwest of Lincoln — the new cell site near Malcolm improves coverage within this town, as well as north to the Branched Oak Lake Recreation Area, south to Pawnee Lake, west on U.S. Highway 34 to the Seward County border and east to U.S. Highway 77.

Reliable service is fundamental to customer loyalty, and Verizon Wireless boasts the highest customer loyalty in the industry, as measured by the company's low percent of customer turnover.

"The value we offer our customers is closely tied to our industry-leading customer retention," Clark said. "Wireless consumers today understand that value is not defined by price alone. A major reason our customers choose Verizon Wireless and stay with us is because we offer the nation's most reliable wireless voice and data network."

These new cell sites are part of Verizon Wireless' continual effort to expand coverage, improve capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Nebraska and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $40 billion since it was formed — more than $5 billion on average every year — to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. In 2006, the company invested $27.5 million to enhance and maintain its Nebraska.
