WALNUT CREEK, CA — Verizon Wireless will break new ground in wireless retail this week with the opening of its new Verizon Wireless Communications Store in Petaluma, Calif. The store is the next evolution in the wireless retail experience, offering consumers hands-on interaction with wireless voice, data, music, and video services in a sleek, new full-service environment. The new store is located at 177 N. McDowell Boulevard in Petaluma.

Local residents are invited to stop in and are encouraged to bring old cell phones and accessories they no longer use (from any wireless provider) for donation to the Verizon Wireless HopeLine® program. Through the Verizon Wireless HopeLine program, used wireless phones, batteries and accessories from any service provider are recycled, or refurbished and sold. Verizon Wireless uses the proceeds to award grants and to donate wireless phones with prepaid airtime to local shelters and non-profit organizations to aid survivors of domestic violence. Last year, Verizon Wireless awarded more than $400,000 in grants, and donated nearly 1,400 phones and more than 4 million minutes of use to domestic violence agencies throughout California.
