Go "Green" And Help Call A Timeout On Domestic Violence In Phoenix, Arizona
CHANDLER, AZ — Suns fans can help curb domestic violence and electronic waste in our community.
Fans attending the Phoenix Suns game on Wednesday, April 16 can donate their used wireless phones, batteries and accessories to the Verizon Wireless HopeLine® recycling program. Drop boxes will be located on the Pavilion and the Paseo of the US Airways Center from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
Through Verizon Wireless' signature HopeLine program, used wireless phones and accessories from any service provider are recycled, or refurbished for re-use. The company leads the industry in its efforts to turn used wireless phones into support for victims of domestic violence.
"This is a win-win for not only the environment, but also for victims of domestic violence right here in our state," said Tony Heyman, regional president, Verizon Wireless.
"Thanks to support for HopeLine from Suns fans and the greater community, we awarded nearly $90,000 in grants and donated 315 phones with nearly a million free minutes to domestic violence agencies in Arizona last year."
Since the program began, the company has disposed of more than 1 million phones in an environmentally sound way and awarded nearly $5 million in cash donations to domestic violence organizations nationwide.
The company has also distributed more than 60,000 HopeLine phones with the equivalent of 180 million minutes of service and other features for use by survivors and organizations.
Wireless phones and equipment can be donated to the HopeLine program year-round at any Verizon Wireless Communications Store across the country.
