"Serving our customers and the communities in which we work and live is our priority every day, especially in times of emergency," said Luis Cruz, region president of Verizon Wireless. "We want our customers to know we are working tirelessly and have invested heavily throughout the region to provide the most reliable wireless service in the Valley."
Verizon Wireless network technicians are now working to boost network capacity in areas where Rio Grande Valley residents and rescue workers need it most. More than 95 percent of existing Verizon Wireless transmission sites in the path of Hurricane Dolly have their own back-up generators and extended battery back-up to operate during power outages.
Verizon Wireless network technicians have traveled more than 42,000 miles across Texas this year to ensure the strength of the network.
