Go Green With Verizon Wireless And Make A Difference This Earth Day In Phoenix, Arizona

Chandler, AZ — Arizonans can help preserve the Earth’s resources and support victims of domestic violence this Earth Day – and every day – by recycling their no-longer-used wireless phones, batteries and accessories through Verizon Wireless’ HopeLine phone recycling and refurbishing program.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), recycling 1 million phones saves enough energy to power 185 U.S. households with electricity for one year, so every phone donated makes a difference.

Recycle old phones at special collection with Go Wireless Go Wireless, a premium retailer for Verizon Wireless, will hold a special Earth Day HopeLine phone recycling drive April 22-26. The two Valley drop-off locations are:

  • Go Wireless, 4810 E. Ray Road, Phoenix
  • Go Wireless, 9832 W. Northern Ave, Peoria

Wireless phones and equipment can also be donated to the HopeLine program year-round at any Verizon Wireless Communications Store in Arizona and across the country.

Other ways to be “green”In addition to recycling an old wireless phone, mobile users in Arizona can also make a difference this Earth Day by “going green” with some simple steps that will help conserve the Earth’s resources, including:

  • Use a power strip for your wireless phone or PDA chargers, and then make sure to switch it off when everything has been charged so you don’t use “phantom” energy.
  • Improve battery life and reduce the need for charging by changing the settings of your wireless phone or PDA's backlighting.
  • Save paper by signing up for Verizon Wireless’ paperless Green Bill and eliminate the monthly bill in your mailbox. Register at
  • Save gas and commuting costs by using VZ Navigator(SM) or use Mobile Broadband service to create a mobile office on-the-go.

About HopeLine HopeLine accepts wireless phones and accessories in any condition from any manufacturer for reuse and recycling. All phones donated to HopeLine that can be refurbished are sold for reuse and those that are not salvageable are recycled in an environmentally sound way under a zero landfill policy.

Proceeds from HopeLine are used to provide wireless phones to survivors of domestic violence who are rebuilding their lives or cash grants to local shelters and non-profit organizations that focus on domestic violence prevention and awareness.
