ATHENS, TX — In celebration of joining two great companies, Verizon Wireless will host a weekend Customer Appreciation Celebration from Friday Sept. 11 to Sunday, Sept. 13 at its newest retail store in Athens, located at 126 N. Palestine.
Former Alltel customers in markets retained by Verizon Wireless now have access to the nation's largest broadband network and a full suite of state of the art devices like the BlackBerry® Storm(TM) and Tour(TM) and LG enV® TOUCH.
Verizon Wireless has spent the past six months integrating networks, preparing to convert billing systems, and rebranding stores. At this weekend celebration, business and community leaders, individuals and families can meet the leadership team, learn more about Verizon Wireless' commitment to the community and enjoy refreshments.
Verizon Wireless is also taking Athens to the movies as part of the customer appreciation event. Residents that visit the store on or before Saturday, Sept. 12 can pick up tickets for a complimentary screening of "Cloudy, with a Chance of Meatballs" while supplies last. After completing a brief survey, families will receive up to four tickets for the VIP screening taking place at the Cinemark Cinema 4 on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 5 p.m.
Customers can also take advantage of several offers including:
- Any Samsung phone $49.99 or less is FREE with new two-year activation (available Sept. 11-13)
- Waived activation ($35 value)
- 25 percent off all accessories
- Register to win tickets to a professional Dallas football game
In addition, Verizon Wireless will launch its HopeLine® Recycling Program. HopeLine® collects no longer used wireless phones and accessories from any carrier. All phones donated to HopeLine that can be refurbished are sold for reuse and those that are not salvageable are recycled in an environmentally sound way under a zero landfill policy. Proceeds from HopeLine are used to provide wireless phones to survivors of domestic violence who are rebuilding their lives or cash grants to local shelters and non-profit organizations that focus on domestic violence prevention and awareness.
Since the program's inception in 2001 Verizon Wireless has collected more than 6 million phones, awarded nearly $7 million in cash grants to domestic violence agencies and distributed more than 76,000 phones and 228 million minutes of free wireless service to be used by victims of domestic violence.
"We are excited about our arrival to the Athens community," said Frank Antonacci, region president for Verizon Wireless. "Verizon Wireless is committed to the communities where we live and work. We look forward to providing customers with the best products and services at a great value."
Store hours for the new Athens location are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
