Mayor Villaraigosa, Chief Beck To Announce Partnerships With Domestic Violence Advocacy Groups
LOS ANGELES, CA — Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Chief Beck, women leaders, and business leaders will announce “Domestic Violence Partnerships,” an expanding partnership between the Los Angeles Police Department and domestic violence advocacy groups throughout the City on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 10:00 AM on the South Lawn Steps of City Hall, 200 North Spring St., Los Angeles, CA 90012.
“Domestic Violence Partnerships” is a new initiative that ensures, for the first time in our City’s history, that every LAPD Division will have a designated domestic violence coordinator and will be partnered with a domestic violence advocacy group.
Coinciding with the public awareness campaign of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Verizon Foundation will announce their Hopeline® from Verizon project in the City of Los Angeles to collect used cell phones to distribute to victims of domestic violence.
Blue Shield Foundation will announce grants made within the City and County of Los Angeles to domestic violence groups and shelters over a two year period. The Foundation is awarding grants to 11 organizations within the City.
