Verizon Wireless Brings Its 4G LTE Network To Lincoln, Nebraska On Nov. 17

LINCOLN, NE — On Nov. 17, Verizon Wireless customers in Lincoln, Neb. can take advantage of Verizon Wireless’ 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, the fastest and most reliable 4G network in the nation. Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network allows customers to share music and photos, surf the Web and download files up to 10 times faster than before. The 4G LTE network coverage will extend from Lincoln as follows:

  • North on U.S. Highway 77 to Davey Road;
  • South on U.S. Highway 77 to Saltillo Road;
  • East on U.S. Highway 34 to 148th Street; and
  • West on Interstate 80 to Emerald.

In addition, the Lincoln 4G LTE coverage will cover northeast on I-80 to Ashland, providing contiguous coverage along the interstate between Lincoln and Omaha. Additional cities included in the 4G LTE network coverage include Davey, Denton, Emerald, Malcolm, Walton and Waverly.

Coverage and Speed

With a consistent focus on growth and reliability, Verizon Wireless has quickly expanded its 4G LTE network. In addition to launching its network in Lincoln on Nov. 17, the company is adding 13 other new markets and expanding its network in Louisville, Ky.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn.; and Pittsburgh, Pa., for a total of 179 markets covered. Verizon Wireless plans to continue rapidly expanding its 4G LTE network to its entire 3G coverage area by the end of 2013. Previously, Verizon launched its 4G LTE network in the greater Omaha/Council Bluffs area on Aug. 18.

In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers from Lincoln to Omaha should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

When customers travel outside of a 4G LTE coverage area, devices automatically connect to Verizon Wireless’ 3G network, enabling customers to stay connected from coast to coast.
