Trail Blazers, Verizon Wireless, Oregon Coalition Team Up To Provide Hopeline For Domestic Violence Survivors

PORTLAND OR — The Portland Trail Blazers are hosting the Verizon HopeLine Collection for the ninth consecutive year, as fans are urged to donate used wireless phones, batteries and accessories on Monday, Feb. 6 when the Oklahoma City Thunder visit the Rose Garden.

This season, Verizon Wireless has partnered with the Oregon Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. All donated items will benefit survivors of domestic violence through the Verizon HopeLine program.

HopeLine drop boxes will be located at each entrance. Every fan who donates a mobile device or accessory will receive a $10 coupon to the Trail Blazers Fan Shop. Fans that donate can also enter to win a Verizon 4G Pantech Breakout smartphone as well as a Trail Blazers gift bag. Doors open at 6 p.m. and donations will run throughout the game.

The Oregon Coalition table will be located in the South Atrium across from sections 118/119. Fans can find more information about the Coalition and the Verizon HopeLine Collection at this location. There will also be a chance to enter to win the Verizon 4G smartphone and gift bag at this location.

The Verizon HopeLine Collection runs year-round and wireless devices and accessories can be donated to Verizon Wireless Communications Stores throughout the country.

Through the HopeLine program, used wireless phones, batteries and accessories from any service provider are recycled or refurbished and sold. Verizon Wireless uses the proceeds to award grants and wireless phones with airtime to non-profit human services and law enforcement agencies to aid survivors of domestic violence in the Portland metro area and across the country.

About Oregon Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence OCADSV is a membership organization made up of programs across the state of Oregon, who serve survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Our undertaking has been to provide technical assistance, training, public education to local crisis centers and their communities; engage in systems advocacy; and support multi-disciplinary efforts to develop agency protocols. These activities promote recognition of sexual assault and domestic violence, enhance systemic responses to victims and their families, and support innovative approaches to ending domestic and sexual violence. Our mission is to promote equity and social change in order to end violence for all communities. We seek to transform society by engaging diverse voices, supporting the self-determination of survivors and providing leadership for advocacy efforts. Domestic and sexual violence are serious problems in Oregon, affecting individuals, families, and entire communities. Since January 2009, over 100 Oregonians were killed as a result of domestic violence. Thousands more victims survived-facing the difficult process of finding safety and rebuilding their lives. Please be a part of changing the lives for domestic violence survivors in Oregon by supporting the HopeLine Campaign!
