Verizon Wireless Providing Temporary Coverage Enhancements In Harveyville, Kansas

OVERLAND PARK, KS — To aid customers and recovery efforts in the aftermath of last night’s devastating tornado, Verizon Wireless will deploy a temporary cell tower – or COLT – to enhance calling coverage in and around Harveyville, Kan.

The COLT will provide extra network capacity to Verizon Wireless customers in Harveyville, Kan., so that they can contact family, friends and loved ones.

A COLT, or “cell on light truck,” is a fully functional, mobile cell site that enhances wireless capacity in a given area, thereby enabling thousands of extra customers in the area to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls; send and receive emails and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; and view high-quality videos, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.
