What To Look For at International CTIA Wireless 2012 in New Orleans

The International CTIA Wireless 2012 Conference kicks off today in New Orleans.  Products and solutions highlighting the role 4G LTE in healthcare, public safety and other industries should play a big role at the show, and the future of the wireless business is always a topic of discussion among the thousands of attendees.
The highlight of the show is likely to be Tuesday’s keynote “Beyond LTE – Carrier Innovations,” hosted by Mad Money’s Jim Cramer. The panel, featuring CEOs of the nation’s leading wireless service providers, will weigh in on how companies are using 4G LTE technology to innovate and change the way we connect.
InTouch RP X-Press is looking to do just that in the mobile health space, one of the fastest growing segments of the wireless market. InTouch’s portable telemedicine device runs over the 4G LTE network and lets doctors monitor a patient’s vital signs or conduct a live consultation remotely. This service has the potential to provide better care to patients living in rural areas who previously have gone without treatment.
Other notable exhibitors that are part of the Verizon booth include Kopin, which will be showing off Golden-i, a cloud-based computer headset. The device understands individual voice commands and physical gestures, allowing users to interact virtually with remote surroundings, and in turn, it also provides users with access to streaming video and Internet services. This technology is applicable for law enforcement organizations and even for medical procedures.
Stay tuned for more from New Orleans throughout the week.
