Stress-Free Shopping Is Just a Click Away

Parents who have spent the last few weeks back to school shopping for clothes and supplies can attest that shopping can be stressful. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that a growing number of shoppers are avoiding the crowds and making mobile commerce part of their shopping routine.

According to a January 2012 IBM report, sales from mobile devices doubled last holiday season. The same report said that more than 14 percent of all holiday online retail traffic came from a mobile device.

A recent Nielsen survey points to apps as a key reason for the growth of mobile online shopping. Many major retailers including Amazon, Gap, and Target have apps available to make shopping more enjoyable. In fact, according to Nielsen, 47 percent of smartphone owners used a shopping app in June of this year.

Recognizing this trend, Verizon and Amazon will offer a suite of Amazon-owned shopping apps directly to customers on certain Verizon Wireless Android smartphones. Amazon’s Shopping, MP3, Zappos, Kindle, and Audible apps, will be preloaded to offer quick access to the online stores, one-click ordering and access to Amazon Prime free two-day shipping.

Also included in the suite is IMDB, a movie information app that includes cast information, trailers and reviews.

Retail apps like those offered by Amazon are another way wireless users can customize their smartphones and bring the convenience of online shopping right to their mobile device.
