Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Network To Expand Across State Lines In The Kansas City, Missouri, Area

KANSAS CITY, MO — Verizon Wireless today announced that customers in the Kansas City area will be able to experience the speed and capabilities of America’s largest 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in more places when the company expands on Sept. 20.  With the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network, customers can experience innovative technology in their everyday lives, through solutions such as HomeFusion℠ Broadband, viewdini and more, all made possible by 4G LTE.

Verizon Wireless currently offers the nation’s largest 4G LTE network, covering more than 75 percent of the U.S. population in 371 markets across the United States.  The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network is currently available within the city limits of Kansas City, Mo., and Kansas City, Kan., as well as the majority of neighboring towns and suburbs.  With the planned network expansion, residents in areas such as Louisburg, Kan., Bucyrus, Kan., Hillsdale, Kan., Cleveland, Mo., West Line, Mo., and Ectonville, Mo., as well as along Interstate 70 between Bonner Springs and Lawrence, Kan., will have access to the nation’s fastest 4G network, to surf the Web, stream live music and video, and stay in touch with family and friends, all with speeds up to 10 times faster than before.

“With the growth of our 4G LTE network, Verizon Wireless and its partners are able to innovate and introduce solutions that are changing how people communicate and do business,” said Brendan Fallis, president – Kansas/Missouri Region, Verizon Wireless.  “When we expand our 4G network in Kansas City, more area customers will have access to superfast speeds available on their 4G LTE smartphones, tablets and other devices, enhancing communication with colleagues, family and friends.”

In May, national research company RootMetrics® announced that Verizon Wireless’ network in Kansas City outperformed the competition in combined data, voice and text performance in independent wireless testing conducted so far this year.  RootMetrics’ research reflects the customer experience in specific geographic areas, providing customers with valuable insights about wireless service options in the area where they use their wireless devices most frequently.  The RootScore™ Report, which credited Verizon’s recent 4G LTE upgrade in Kansas City as a key factor in the network’s increased data speeds, analyzed results from 14,657 real-world data, call and text tests of the major wireless carriers’ networks in Kansas City.  Verizon Wireless customers can choose from the largest selection of 4G LTE devices and solutions to experience the nation’s fastest 4G network.  On the go customers can watch movies, television shows and other video content on 4G LTE smartphones and tablets with applications like viewdini.  Viewdini brings the power of Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network to the screen by streamlining access to videos from a wide range of content providers, including cable operators, websites and other popular video sources.  Customers also can take advantage of 4G LTE-optimized applications like Color to share live video broadcasts of life’s special moments with their Facebook® friends.  Sharing live video with audio is an exclusive feature of the Color app on Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network

HomeFusion Broadband is another solution made possible by the power and speed of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network.  Using the 4G LTE network, HomeFusion Broadband delivers high-speed, in-home Internet access for residential broadband, particularly where Internet options are limited or are not currently available.

Verizon Wireless offers a variety of 4G LTE devices which range from tablets and mobile hotspots to the latest smartphones and more.  The newest 4G LTE devices include the Samsung Galaxy S® III and the DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE by HTC.  Details on available devices can be found at and information on plans and pricing is available at

In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.
