Drive around Jamestown, N.Y., and you’ll see numerous references to hometown legend Lucille Ball: a museum, a mural, guided tours, even an annual comedy festival. “I Love Lucy” fans and Jamestown residents alike can better experience all that the town has to offer with 4G LTE speeds on their smartphones and tablets.
Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network officially went live last week in the Jamestown/Chautauqua Lake area, as well as along the I-86 corridor across Chautauqua County area. Verizon Wireless celebrated the local launch of 4G LTE at its Fairmount Avenue Verizon Wireless Communications Store with refreshments, prizes and speed tests to highlight the advantages of 4G LTE.
The launch also served as an opportunity to recognize National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and to honor a local domestic violence advocate for her efforts to bring an end to domestic violence in her community. Diana Butcher from the Salvation Army of Jamestown received the 2012 HopeLine Award during a ceremony at the Jamestown store. In addition, Verizon Wireless made a $2,500 donation to the Salvation Army of Jamestown in Diana’s name.
The recent launch of 4G LTE service in Jamestown, and more than 20 other cities, expands Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network to 419 U.S. markets, surpassing its original goal of covering 400 markets by the end of 2012. Local residents, businesses and “Lucy tourists” can expect 4G LTE coverage to continue to grow over the next several months.
