Walla Walla, Washington is home to 30,000 residents, three colleges and dozens of fine wineries. And now, it’s also part of the nation’s largest 4G LTE network.
At a Thursday afternoon ceremony at the Verizon College Place store, local dignitaries, regional leaders and local employees from Verizon Wireless celebrated the launch of 4G LTE service in the area.
The Verizon Foundation will donate “4Gs,” ($4,000) to Great Explorations in Education; a local charity whose mission is to inspire young girls to study Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
Today’s launch of 4G LTE service in Walla Walla and 20 other cities expands Verizon’ 4G LTE network to a total of 419 U.S. markets, passing the 400 mark two months earlier than forecast.
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed cake, giveaways, a drawing for a free Motorola DROID RAZR M, plus demonstrations of 4G LTE speed and capabilities, including video phone calls over the Verizon LTE network.
