Wireless Technology: The Internet of Things

Last year, the average family connected about 4 percent more devices to the Verizon Wireless network. It’s the beginning of a larger movement toward the Internet of Things. Beyond smartphones and tablets, consumers are connecting cameras for social networking, smart accessories to locate a meandering pet or searching for restaurants from their car consoles.

Available wireless technologies (and others still on the drawing board) offer new capabilities that help consumers in the tasks of everyday life. Future innovations will continue the movement toward a more connected world where machines communicate with other machines and advancements using technology to find answers to longstanding challenges.

The fastest growing segment in wireless is no longer the smartphone; but rather, the plethora of other devices offering valuable information by connecting to the wireless Internet. From sunrise ‘til sunset, there is potential to make every part of the day more efficient.
