The Next Generation in Digital Signage

Machina Research reports there will be 12.5 billion “smart” connected devices in the world in 2020, up from 1.3 billion today. The next phase of the wireless evolution is on display everywhere in our lives.

Carmel, Ind.-based Mesh Systems supplies an innovative machine-to-machine (M2M) solution for static billboards through Intermatic. Mesh Systems created a remote monitoring tool that runs on the Verizon Wireless network to help Intermatic customers more efficiently monitor digital signs. The standard practice of dispatching a worker to drive by a sign every week to see if it’s working can now be managed via a cloud-based platform.

A built-in scheduler can turn lights on and off at peak hours. Lights that need to be replaced can also be checked more efficiently. Additionally, power structures and network redundancies are built in so that after natural disasters such as tornadoes and hurricanes, damaged signs are quickly repaired and put back into service.

The M2M solution, featured at the Outdoor Advertising Association of America’s National Convention and Trade Show, is modernizing the way digital signs are being used and maintained – while helping to contain energy costs.

Mesh Systems continues to lead in M2M solutions and has been named to Connected World Magazine’s Top 100 companies that are “demonstrating significant market traction and pursuing game-changing technologies in 2013.”
