Eco-Friendly Fashion Finds

Starting this week, some of the biggest names in the fashion industry will showcase their Spring 2014 collections at New York Fashion Week. The looks that come down the runway will determine the trends for the spring and summer months. However, eco-conscious fashion lovers don’t have to wait until spring to shop for great looks that also benefit the environment.

Known for her beautiful, well-made clothes, Stella McCartney is one of the most eco-friendly designers in the fashion industry. McCartney’s sustainable fashion designs stem from her belief that recycling is important and includes shoes with biodegradable soles and DryDye t-shirts that don’t use water to dye them. The designer also has a collection of chic eyewear made of raw materials that stem from citric acid and castor-oil seeds. Individuals who need a look for a night on the town or red carpet event can turn to H&M’s recently launched Conscious Exclusive collection. The Hollywood-inspired collection includes pieces for both men and women made from recycled polyester chiffon and organic cotton.

Smartphones and apps make styling these environmentally-friendly fashions a snap. The DROID MINI’s Quick Capture feature allows users to take photos of clothes, shoes and accessories and create a virtual closet. With the Stylicious app, fashionistas can upload pictures of their shoes, clothes and accessories and mix and match them to create a lookbook. My Dressing includes a personal closet organizer and lets individuals create outfits from the clothes in their closet and share them with family and friends.
