Halloween Safety Apps

If your kids are trick-or-treating around the neighborhood without you, download the Life360 app to keep track of where they are at any given point in time. Location sharing is specific to each group you create and can be turned on and off whenever you want. Similarly, Verizon Wireless’ Family Locator lets you know exactly where your children are when they’re out walking the neighborhood and sends you notices if they leave a defined parameter that you are able to set. The MamaBear app, for example, not only alerts you when your kids arrive or leave the places that you pre-set but also allows you to track their social media usage. That way when your kids get tagged in a photo or check in on Facebook or Instagram, you are in-the-know regarding their social media whereabouts on Halloween night, too.

Simple apps like the Flashlight app help keep kids visible in the dark while illuminating sidewalks and yards so no one trips. Or download Tiny Flashlight + LED, which lets you choose different colors to display for illumination.

Just in case your child does get lost in the dark, make sure that you have their most up-to-date information easily accessible. The FBI’s Child ID app provides a convenient place to electronically store photos of and vital information about your children. You can show the pictures and provide physical identifiers such as height and weight to security or police officers on the spot if needed.
