You know that feeling of dread when your phone slips through your hands and you reach to flip it over, hoping the crunching sound you heard was not your screen cracking against the ground? Starting today, that fear and the sound of shattering glass will forever be a distant memory.

Introducing the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 with Moto ShatterShield™ technology — the world’s first smartphone with a shatterproof display1, available exclusively from Verizon.

Moto ShatterShield’s display technology is an integrated system consisting of five-layers designed from materials that absorb shock from impact and are proven not to crack or shatter. The integrated system maintains touch performance and structural integrity over the life of the Droid Turbo 2.   Beyond Moto ShatterShield, the screen on the Droid Turbo 2 provides a 5.4-inch Quad HD display, so photos, videos, games, and text look extra sharp.

The Droid Turbo 2 also provides up to 48 hours of battery life, and is the world’s fastest charging smartphone. TurboPowerTM charging provides up to 13 hours of power in just 15 minutes of charging2.

Packing a pro-worthy camera in a small package, the Droid Turbo 2’s 21-megapixel camera with rapid focus and zero shutter lag helps you quickly capture those precious moments that slower, smartphones often miss. The front-facing 5-megapixel camera includes a wide-angle lens, which is great for fitting all your friends and family in the picture. And the additional front-facing flash helps ensure everybody looks their best in any light.

Your Droid, your design

You pick the color of your clothes, shoes, hats, sunglasses, so why not pick the color of your next phone? Better yet, why not design it yourself? Customize your Droid Turbo 2 with Moto Maker. Pick your favorite color and customize the back of your phone with materials like leather or ballistic nylon. Moto Maker offers more than 1,000 different combinations to truly make it your Droid. You’ll be able to design and order your Droid Turbo 2 online and also in Verizon stores.

Tired of the colors you chose and looking for something new? Verizon allows you to refresh your Droid Turbo 2 with a full redesign one time within two years of purchase. Simply choose your new design and send back your old phone when the fresh one arrives. Every design refresh also includes an upgrade to the 64 GB model.

Design refresh will be available when you customize your Droid through Moto Maker for a $96 one-time fee or $4 per month for customers purchasing the smartphone on a device payment plan. Leather material is an additional $24.

Droid Maxx 2

This year’s Droid line up also includes one more Droid — The Droid Maxx 2. It’s designed with the essentials in mind: 48 hour battery life, a 21-megapixel camera, TurboPower™ charging which gives you 8 hours of use with a 15 minute charge2, and a 5.5-inch full HD display. So you still get those great features that Droid has to offer at a great price point.

You’ll also be able to personalize your Maxx 2 with 5 additional interchangeable Motorola Shells (sold separately) featuring a soft grip texture available in different colors. Or boost protection without adding bulk by choosing a Motorola Flip Shell in one of 3 color combinations. Now, you can swap between different colors whenever you want.

Reliability matters

A reliable 4G LTE network is more important than ever in today’s mobile world. It means when you want to upload that selfie to Instagram with all those filters, you can. When you and your friends can’t decide where to eat, you can scan through Yelp. When you have that one song stuck in your head but nobody knows the right lyrics, you can look them up.

Without a reliable network that selfie stays in your gallery, you and your friends are still undecided, and now you’re singing the wrong words. A slow network without coverage also leads to awkward moments. Like when you’re excited to show someone that viral video but you really end up showing them a “buffering” screen.

Both Droids will support Verizon’s Advanced Calling. That means when you call another compatible smartphone, you get HD Voice quality that’s as clear as talking face-to-face. You can also start a video call right from the calling screen with just a tap.

Pricing, promotions and availability

Both new Droids will be available online and in stores starting Oct. 29. The Droid Turbo 2 will be $26 per month for 24 months ($624 retail price) or $30 per month for 24 months ($720 retail price) with design refresh. And the Droid Maxx 2 will be $16 per month for 24 months ($384 retail price).

Beginning Oct. 29, get up to $300 when you switch to Verizon and trade in a smartphone — even with a cracked screen — and buy a new Droid Turbo 2. Trade-in promotion available for a limited time and value provided via Verizon gift card. The trade-in device must be able to power on.

Cases are more than just a way to protect your new smartphone. They’re a way to add some of your personality to your phone. The new Droids will launch with about 50 different cases from a variety of manufacturers including Otterbox, Kate Spade, Incipio, and more.

Additionally, two Droid accessory bundles will be available starting Oct. 29.

  • Memory Bundle: Get a case up to $39.99, screen protector up to $34.99, and a 32GB Micro SD Card at $39.99 all for $89.99 (Save up to $24.98)
