WorldCom (NASDAQ: WCOM) today announced it has established a task force to assist customers of communications provider KPNQwest who must now select an alternative telecommunications carrier or additional communications services. As digital communication services are an integral part of business operations throughout Europe, WorldCom established this task force to quickly respond to increased inquiries and demand from KPNQwest customers. KPNQwest N.V. announced on 31 May 2002, that the company filed for bankruptcy at the District Court of Haarlem, the Netherlands.
The WorldCom task force consists of a group of digital and data communications experts who are able to respond rapidly to customer inquiries, taking into account the special situation for these customers. Through the task force, WorldCom will provide special packages of services to these customers. Among the services WorldCom will provide are the efficient and expedited migration of Internet access, hosting and IP VPNs, as well as the establishment of contingency communications plans.
