Enhanced VPN Service Will Enable Businesses to Deploy Multinational Corporate Networks Incorporating Dial and Dedicated Access with Expanded Global Reach, Quality of Service and Web Hosting Features

Ashburn, Virginia, August 1, 2000 - WorldCom (NASD: WCOM), through its Internet subsidiary UUNET, today launched UUsecure VPN Total Access edition, a new VPN solution, to allow corporations to run business-critical applications over IP-based VPNs while connecting both office and remote users from around the globe. The fully managed, highly scalable VPN service will support traffic shaping and integration with Web hosting and provide expanded global reach. UUNET's UUsecure VPN services enable corporations to provide secure communications between branch offices and with partners, suppliers and vendors.

Features of the new Total Access edition include: integrated dial and dedicated access; a single- box solution for all functions including remote dial, encryption, tunneling and routing; VPN connectivity with or without Internet access; an IPSec client including full security support for encryption; support for Internet Key Exchange (IKE); an integrated hosting component; and Class Based Queuing (CBQ) for application filtering and bandwidth reservation.

UUsecure VPN - Total Access edition is currently being rolled out on a country-by-country basis starting in the United States this month, expanding to Europe and later to the Asia Pacific region by year's end. U.S. customers will have access to dedicated VPN links in 18 countries including: Austria, Australia, Belgium/Luxembourg, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the United States.

Remote users will have access to nearly 2,500 Points of Presence (PoPs) via UUNET's global IP network. Customers will also have a full range of dedicated access options from Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) to full capacity T- 3s/E-3s and dial access speeds up to 56 Kbps.

Pricing and Availability
UUsecure VPN - Total Access edition is available immediately in the United States. Pricing for the Total Access edition in the U.S. ranges from $595 per month for a 56K solution to $1,895 per month for full T-1 and $35,500 per month for a full T-3 (45 Mbps) per site, plus a one-time start up fee. The monthly service fee includes the Customer Premise Equipment (CPE), network connectivity, web-enabled reporting and 24 x 7 end-to-end management and monitoring. Pricing for the dial component includes $1,500 monthly service fee and a flat rate of $19.95 per month per user or a usage-based fee per user plus a one-time install fee. The monthly service fee includes SLA reporting, 24 x 7 management and monitoring and maintenance and hosting of the UUNET radius server.

With the Web hosting option -- Multi-Host NT -- the service is available for an additional fee of $1,095 per month based on 0 - 10 Mbps bandwidth tier and a one-time installation charge.
