TULSA, Okla. -- As part of its effort to offer comprehensive telecommunications information to the cyber population, WilTel, a wholly owned subsidiary of LDDS Communications, has added the Telecom Atlas to its World Wide Web (WWW) server on the Internet.
The Telecom Atlas uses colorful graphics to display information about national and international long distance carriers, data communications and telecommunication equipment providers, in addition to information about WilTel. "WilTel's server on the Internet is devoted, in part, to educating Web users about telecommunications," said David Cordeiro, Internet product manager. "The Telecom Atlas furthers that mission by providing valuable information about WilTel and other telecommunication companies." WilTel's Telecom Atlas allows Web users to view national and international telecommunication companies using graphic maps rather than lists of text. By clicking on a specific company name displayed on the map or the name in a list (for users without graphical capabilities on their computers), users are linked to that company's home page. (A home page is the document viewed when accessing a particular site on the Internet.)
WilTel's server includes two conceptual maps which provide graphical displays of data communications technology and national telecommunications equipment providers. Information within the graphs allow the user to link to additional information on the Internet about specific technologies and providers. The server also displays national and international maps of WilTel's digital fiber network. A third map allows users to click on specific states to access information about the closest sales office.
To reach WilTel's Telecom Atlas using any WWW browser, type the Universal Resource Locator (URL) http://www.wiltel.com/atlas/atlas.html. WilTel's home page can be reached by typing http://www.wiltel.com. WilTel's server includes WilTel corporate and product information, WilTel's Telecom Library and the Tulsa pages.
WilTel is a full-service telecommunications company that offers domestic and international data, voice and video products and services to carriers and large business customers.
