WorldCom Private IP Offers New Premium Priority Data Delivery; Global Reach of Private IP Expands to Asia Pacific

WorldCom Private IP Service Offers Businesses Around the
Globe, High-Performance Intranets and Extranets with New Class of
Service Enhancement

ATLANTA, NETWORLD + INTEROP, Sept. 11, 2001 - WorldCom (NASDAQ:
WCOM), the leading global business data and Internet communications
provider, today unveiled new industry-leading Class of Service (CoS)
data traffic prioritization enhancements to WorldCom Private IP
ServiceSM and announced the availability of WorldCom Private IP to
Asia Pacific businesses.

WorldCom's new Premium PrioritySM enhancement enables
companies using WorldCom Private IP to create more predictable traffic
delivery over their private data networks by assigning different
classes of delivery to various forms of IP traffic. For example, a
business could give a "first class" priority label to data
applications - like mission-critical data transactions, video or voice
transmissions - that require faster turnaround, while assigning a lower
priority label to less time-sensitive traffic such as email and Web
surfing. Based on a customer's designated traffic priority,
WorldCom's Private IP Service will deliver traffic around the world
with stringent service level guarantees. The new Premium Priority
enhancement is available to U.S.-based companies and their global
operations.

Now available to businesses in the Asia Pacific region, WorldCom
Private IP Service is offered to customers in 49 countries throughout
North America, Europe and Asia Pacific - including Australia, Hong
Kong, Japan, Singapore, the Netherlands, Sweden, France, Germany, the
United Kingdom, and the United States. For the first time, WorldCom
customers in Asia Pacific can develop intra-Asian IP-based intranets
and extranets using their existing frame relay or ATM network
infrastructure.

"Private IP is a powerful business tool that allows companies
to move their private data networks to the next level of e-business
utility and value," said Brian Brewer, senior vice president of
WorldCom Global Marketing. "Our Class of Service enhancement takes
Private IP a step further, raising the bar for VPN (virtual private
network) performance even higher. Based on our worldwide reach and the
depth of our VPN services portfolio, WorldCom is well-suited to meet
every business need in this fast-growing market."

According to an August 2001 report on the VPN services market by The
Yankee Group, revenues for network-based VPNs, like WorldCom Private
IP, will increase from $148 million in 2001 to more than $4.4 billion
by 2006 - among North American-based companies.

The WorldCom Private IP CoS enhancement is based on DiffServ IP
Class of Service technology, an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF)
standard that defines how to establish various service levels over a
network. WorldCom Private IP is a Cisco Powered Network, supported by
Cisco MGX 8850 carrier-class switches that deliver Multi-Protocol Label
Switching (MPLS) capabilities for IP-enhanced frame relay and ATM
services. Customers can simply plug into WorldCom Private IP or upgrade
to the service via domestic or international frame relay or ATM access.

WorldCom Private IP can maximize a company's existing private
data network investment by extending its features and functionality to
enable intranets and extranets that permit secure data sharing among
employees, customers and trading partners. WorldCom Private IP enhances
its global IP-enhanced frame relay and ATM services, using MPLS
technology to deliver "connectionless" IP-based applications
and offers businesses a natural migration path to Internet-based IP
VPNs. The expanded availability and enhancement of WorldCom Private IP
extends the company's unmatched ability to deliver the
industry's most comprehensive range of VPN solutions.

WorldCom offers businesses the industry's only full continuum of
private, public and hybrid VPN services - supported by the world's
most extensive and reliable IP and high-speed data networks, and
WorldCom's unparalleled expertise as a pioneering force in the
development and growth of the Internet. The complete suite of VPN
solutions includes a fully managed remote access IP VPN solution; a
fully managed site-to-site IP VPN solution with remote access options;
a carrier-class, customer-managed IP VPN solution; a customer-directed
IP VPN solution allowing customers day-to-day management control via a
Web-based interface; and Private IP, a network-based IP service
enabling businesses to utilize ATM, Frame Relay and direct connections
to build private IP-based intranets and shared extranets.
