Verizon Broadband Performance Disclosure Page
The Federal Communication Commission's "2014 Measuring Broadband America - Fixed Broadband Report" contains the most recent results of an ongoing, rigorous, nationwide performance study of residential wireline broadband service in the United States. The study examined service offerings from 13 of the largest wireline broadband providers and one satellite-based broadband provider using automated, direct measurements of broadband performance delivered to the homes of thousands of subscribers during September 2013.Results from the FCC's 2014 study show that Verizon's FiOS service delivered more than 100% of the advertised download speed consistently throughout the day. Verizon's all-fiber-optic-based FiOS Internet service provided blazing-fast and sustained upstream and downstream speeds as well as low latency even during the peak Internet usage time periods of 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. local time.
The actual performance of an individual customer's broadband service may vary based on technology, network traffic, and a number of other factors. The information below was derived from various tests and is provided for informational purposes only. It is intended to provide you with an indication of the speeds obtained during such network testing. These results may not be fully representative of each individual customer's experience, and did not include variables such as customer inside wiring and Wi-Fi networks, customer computer configurations, additional customer-generated traffic on the customer's broadband connection, the performance to specific Internet destinations that particular customers may be interested in, the performance of other Internet-based content, applications and services, and other such factors.
* This service tier was not included in the FCC's 2014 study. The data presented is from a previous FCC study from July 2012.
** This service tier was not included in the FCC's study. The data presented here is based on Verizon lab testing of this service tier. Lab testing simulated Internet-based network activity in an access network environment.
Download Speed – The speed of the connection when downloading from the Internet to your computer.
Upload Speed - The speed of the connection when uploading data from your computer to another computer somewhere on the Internet.
Latency - A synonym for delay is an expression of how much time it takes for a packet of data to get from one designated point to another. In the Measuring Broadband America study, latency was measured by sending a packet that is returned to the sender and the round-trip time is considered the latency.
