What you’ll be doing...

The Global Network Management – Virtual Engineering Network Management (VENM) in Verizon manages business critical VoLTE and IMS platforms that provide 3G, 4G, and 5G services to Verizon customers.

You will function as lead development and operations engineering managing the Ribbon MRFC/MRFP Transcoder (MRFC/P) Virtual Network Functions (VNF). You will lead multiple medium to large-scale strategic projects and provide guidance to cross organizational staff and technology manufactures. You will be responsible for performing root-cause-analysis and resolution for all issues with the production MRFC/MRFP platforms. You are expected to participate in budget planning, take action on purchase orders, develop deployment plans, track milestones and ensure timely receipt of budget commitments. The majority of the work will be performed during the day. There will be projects that require work to be performed during the maintenance window. Flexibility in scheduling is a requirement.

  • Perform engineering functions for the migration of the production MRFC/P bare metal to VCP2.4 platform.
  • Perform deployment functions for the deployment of the production MRFC/P bare metal to VCP2.4 platform.
  • Perform operations engineering functions of the production MRFC/P VNF in the VCP2.4 environment.
  • Develop and implement detailed project plans and provide input into leadership meetings, HQP, MTCE, VCP Core and technology manufactures.
  • Work closely with cross-functional Vzw teams and equipment suppliers to deploy features and implementation plans on production platforms.
  • Production system hands-on operations for routine maintenance and automation techniques (Linux, OpenStack, Scripting) and capacity planning.
  • Perform expert level troubleshooting and debugging of both network call flows and application system issues.
  • Engage vendors and third party stakeholders involving contract management, SOW/SLA evaluation, legal compliance, security compliance, and facilitate purchases and requisitions.
  • Development of dashboards and health checks for MRFC/P operations reports.
  • Interpret weekly KPI trends and measurements, address capacity and demand growth on the production system.
  • Develop and review all tenant operations MOPs for patches and new releases.
  • On-board and train new hires (lead and mentor).

You have strategic insights, and you know how to bring them from concept to commercial operation in the Verizon network.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.
  • Certification or demonstrable skills in the following: Linux (RHEL), OpenStack, project management, scripting/automation (Ansible, Python, Shell).
  • Operational experience with the following tools: Tools: IrisView, NetScout, SevOne, Wireshark, GenView EMS.
  • Operational experience with the following: Ribbon C3 MGC platform, Ribbon G9/vMRFP platform.
  • Understanding of the VoLTE/IMS Core architecture and call flows.
  • Experience with network routing and security call flows.
  • Experience with data center switching and routing design, firewall/load balancing technology and systems.
  • Understand Firewalls and Load Balancers routing, policy and operation.
  • Experience with network management experience, including fault and performance management systems (SevOne, Olympus, IrisView, Netscout, ULM).
  • Knowledge of capital and expense budgeting.
  • Experience leading large, highly technical projects inspiring teamwork and openness to other ideas.
  • Experience in systems utilizing TCP/IP, UDP, DNS and SIP.
