What you’ll be doing...

The ASIRT (Application Security Incident Response Team) is under the Global Technology and Solutions portfolio. ASIRT works with application teams to handle and resolve incidents that pose immediate threats to Verizon and Verizon customers.
As an ASIRT Sec Engineer IV you will be working with skilled members of ASIRT, application teams, legal, fraud and customer relations as they pertain to application security incident handling.

  • Owning assigned incident(s) to completion.
  • Working within need to know protocols.
  • Triaging and Prioritizing Incident.
  • Identifying Incident Risk and affected Application.
  • Recording/Reporting Incident in Tracking System.
  • Working with application to contain Incident threat.
  • As necessary properly escalating issue to application management.
  • Working with application for final resolve timeline.
  • Verifying application is effective and completed within timeline.
  • Monitoring network perimeter for threats and exposure.
  • Actively participating in ASIRT table top exercises.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with NISTG Standards - NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST 800.6 Rev 2.
  • Knowledge of OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities and how to avoid and remediate.
  • Knowledge of Splunk or SQL.
  • Experience with incident tracking tools- Resilience. Archer, etc.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information & Cyber Security or Information Systems.
  • Cyber Security certifications.
  • Splunk training.
  • Bug Bounty experience/
  • Red/Blue team experience.
  • Application programming experience.
  • Network, application and presentation layers security.
  • Authentication experience such as user authorisation, session authorisation etc.
  • Knowledge of privacy issues such as CPNI, SPI, and PCI.
  • Experience in maintaining confidentiality of privileged information regarding Verizon Security and Incidents.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of cyber threat intelligence concepts and processes.
  • Ability to analyze cyber threat activity and develop relevant technical and strategic recommendations.
  • Knowledge of common frameworks used for threat intelligence, hunting, and incident response.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment across all IT organizations and understand the cybersecurity roles each org is responsible for.
  • Ability of multi-tasking of projects.
  • Knowledge of the priority of security criticality of vulnerabilities.
  • Knowledge of APTs (Advanced Persistent Threats) targeting large companies (Nation States, Cybercrime, Hacktivists, etc.) and their associated Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs).
  • Knowledge of Application Security Defence in Depth with solutions such as OSS, SAST, DAST, RASP, Threat Modelling and Log Monitoring.
  • Experience with Shodon.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to comply with corporate, industry and government regulations and requirements.
  • Strong Communication skills.
  • The ability to explain security incidents to IT and non-IT personnel, including the layers or ownership; developer, mid-level management, and executive management.
