What you’ll be doing...

This position will report to the Senior Manager, Experiential Marketing

The Manager, Verizon Events will play a key role in supporting all events across the consumer footprint. We are looking for a strategic thinker to provide leadership, guidance and decision making to the larger marketing team to ensure all events are aligned with the overall strategy as well as the Verizon brand.

You will partner with the broader marketing team to understand insights that drive new user acquisition across key markets and segments. The position works cross-functionally to source requests and help fulfill demands as they arise. You will work with the sponsorship event team where needed to help bring activations and experiential to life. This role will also interact with external agency partners to review and evaluate proposals. You will also be responsible for cataloguing and recapping events. Candidate must have an ability to navigate in a large company operational environment.

Event Strategy

  • Work with leadership to align on overall strategy.
  • Provide direction and execute on brand priorities and drive decisions with the team to ensure alignment to strategy.
  • Accountable for day-to-day interaction with integrated marketing, media and local marketing teams including attending weekly meetings.
  • Analyze and review proposals and manage timely responses in fast-paced environment.
  • Work with external agencies to evaluate contract proposals where necessary.
  • Partner with the agency and internal to track measurement of event programs effectiveness and ROI.
  • Engrain yourself with the business unit teams to understand priorities and strategies verses competitors.
  • Work closely with media team to understand full range of support.
  • Tap into internal groups to lend further support on event activation buildouts.
  • Become the internal expert on all event activity; including building and maintaining a catalog of up to 100 events for easy reference.
  • Build executive briefing documents, presentations and event recaps.
  • Make recommendations and provide contract negotiation support.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience, independently running events.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising or Communications.
  • Five or more years of professional experience in marketing or related communications field.
  • Deep understanding of home TV/internet providers' landscape including working with networks and content providers on marketing partnerships.
  • Contract negotiation skills including knowledge of the legal process from draft to execution.
  • Strong critical thinking, judgment and decision-making skills; ability to make challenging and difficult decisions and gain consensus.
  • Ability to work well in team environment and autonomously with a strong attention to detail in a fast-changing environment.
  • Ability to complete important time sensitive tasks, adapt quickly to last minute changes and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Agency management skills.
  • Can-do attitude and good sense of urgency.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in software programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong ability to write recap decks, and prove out ROI.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
