What you’ll be doing...

The SW Engineer II, Technology, is a responsible for detailed implementation of software modules for 5G and Mobile Edge Compute (MEC) proof of concepts. He/She determines and identifies high level functional requirements on the basis of interactions with senior team members. The Engineer participates actively in architecture level discussions to influence technical direction. Engineer will develop, debug and deploy modules within a larger close-to-the-edge application partitioned in virtual servers or containers.

Under the direction of an Architect and Sr SW Engineer, the Engineer is assigned a project that leverages cloud programming paradigms for a close-to-the edge 5G and MEC proof concept. He/She has great latitude in selecting implementation avenues, tools, frameworks and open source components in order to meet functionality and timeline goals. Expected to host design reviews for Architect and peer feedback, adjusting implementation as required.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Implementation of SW modules for 5G and MEC proof of concepts. Understanding of cloud/IoT extension to the edge frameworks, such as AWS Greengrass. Drafting of detailed technical specifications. Hosting of peer reviews. Collaboration with integration team to define test criteria. Analysis and interpretation of test results. Performance analysis and identification of bottlenecks.

  • Individual must be highly knowledgeable of the current hardware and software technology trends in cloud IoT extensions to the edge. You must have a background in software development and integration. You are comfortable with design reviews for peer feedback, adjusting implementation as required. You have experience selecting implementation avenues, tools, frameworks and open source components in order to meet functionality and timeline goals. You master Scrum/Agile development design practices and tools.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

    Even better if you have:

  • 4+ years relevant experience.
  • Computer Science degree.
  • Proficient with use of cloud infrastructure components.
  • B.S. Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • 4+ Years SW development experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills to convey complex technical concepts to peers.
  • Fluent in Scrum/Agile development design practices and tools.

  • Comfortable with embedded C programming, C++ application programming, REST API.
  • API development in Go or C++.
  • Comfortable with Build and Release tools such as Git/Github/Gerrit, Jenkins.
  • Tools: JIRA, Confluence, MS Office / GSuite, Git/GitHub/Gerrit, Jenkins.
