What you’ll be doing...

Responsibilities include overall systems integration and testing of network products and technologies that support both consumer (Verizon Fios) and small-business services. We refer to these network products as Customer Premises Equipment (CPE), and examples of CPE include: in-home or small business Wi-Fi routers, Wi-Fi extenders and media adapters (e.g., Ethernet to MoCA converters and/or power-line networking).

The position responsibilities include:

  • Support agile product development, including develop/refine product requirements, and define how new products and services will integrate with existing Verizon products and applications.
  • Plan and implement the test lab setup and required test equipment.
  • Oversee testing activities, including development of technical test requirements, test plans, test execution, test exit reports, defect tracking and troubleshooting/triaging interoperability issues.
  • Use appropriate test and measurement tools to execute test cases.
  • Develop automation scripts and integrate these tools into the overall test management system.
  • Testing installation instructions that may be used by the Operations team to deploy and support the service.
  • Work with both Verizon test teams and suppliers as required.
  • Meet schedule commitments to ensure timely delivery.
  • Provide technical leadership for Verizon team(s) and external vendor(s) in candidate’s area of expertise. Contribute to the development of new processes, techniques, and determine implementation details of applicable standards.
  • Lead test activities, identify appropriate resources needed and develop plans/schedules.
  • Accountable for project or program results. Develop methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for achieving end results.
  • Work is varied within a sometimes ambiguous environment. Work requires constant interpretation. Solve a wide range of complex problems. Provide solution to technical issues that have project-wide and revenue impact.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • A Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Master's degree inEngineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related discipline.
  • Experience with Wi-Fi technologies and related test and measurement equipment.
  • CWNP certifications (correlated work experience) - in one or more of the following: Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA), Certified Wireless Analysis Professional (CWAP) or Certified Wireless Network Expert (CWNE).
  • Experience with spectrum analyzers, network/ protocol/ packet analyzer and performance tools. Keywords: Veriwave, Wireshark, AirMagnet, ComProbe, Kismet, Wi-Spy, in SSIDer.
  • Five or more years of experience with Wi-Fi / related to in-home networking (home routers, digital media devices, IoT, 802.11b/g/n/a/ac/ax technologies, etc.).
  • Five or more years of experience with the TCP/IP protocol suite (IP, IPv6, TCP, UDP)
  • Five or more years of experience with programming, scripting and automation.
  • Five or more years of experience effectively preparing and documenting interface specifications, test plans, and test reports.
  • Three or more years of experience with Linux, Windows.
  • Three or more years of experience with software development life cycle.
  • Ability to work effectively in large cross-functional teams, vendors/suppliers, and contractors.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
