What you’ll be doing...

Verizon Connect has an immediate need for a Systems Engineer with AWS Cloud deployment experience to join our existing team of Systems Engineers within the Development Operations team.
This role will help facilitate the deployment, maintenance and performance tuning of our award winning SaaS application as we migrate from on-premise datacentre infrastructure to an entirely cloud native infrastructure.

•Contribute to the automation of the CICD deployment pipeline by updating the deployment modules and cloudformation templates
•Maintain/Monitor/Remediate middleware applications in AWS (Any linux related issues) (Chef, RMQ, NIFI, Bamboo, Packer)
•Manage the day to day operations of the VerizonConnect platform in AWS

What we’re looking for...

•2+ years of proven experience working with Amazon Web Service technologies
•3+ years of proven experience as Systems Engineer in a Windows/Linux environment
•In-depth knowledge and experience with designing and implementing Cloud based infrastructure in AWS
•Proven experience in the automated deployment of infrastructure and services using Cloudformation in AWS
•A good understanding of the principles/methodologies and tools used in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery using Opsworks/Chef
•Experience in setting up and maintaining AWS Cloudwatch
•Experience with designing and maintaining IAM security policies within AWS
•In-depth knowledge of designing and deploying highly available solutions in AWS using VPC’s and Route53
•Excellent working knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems
•The ability to automate operational tasks using Windows Powershell
•Experience of configuration management system based on CHEF, writing cookbooks and recipes
•Monitoring performance, troubleshoot systems problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, patching, collaborating with System Engineers & Architects on optimisation
•Someone who can work as part of the team to ensure projects and goals are delivered to aggressive timelines
•Be able to provide ongoing maintenance of documentation relating to new and current systems throughout the organisation
•Excellent knowledge and troubleshooting ability on all aspects of the Networking Stack
•Experience working in an operating system agnostic infrastructure
•Ability to approach problems with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm, and innovation
•Excellent communications skills to clearly articulate complex technical issues to all levels of the organization (both technical and non-technical)

•BSc computer science/engineering or higher
•Current AWS, Microsoft, RedHat, Cisco CCNA/CCNP and/or equivalent certification(s)
