What you’ll be doing...


  • Ensure network availability.
  • Act as an engineering escalation point 24x7, as necessary engage resources to resolve problems per established guidelines, including vendors, Macy’s, management and technical resources.
  • Lead outage bridge calls 24x7 when required.
  • Ensure all time entered into nSAP is reviewed prior to approval.
  • Observe team personnel for both technical and professional job aspects, provide management with input, both successes and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to the engineering team on processes and procedures.
  • Review engineering documentation for accuracy and ensure it remains up to date.
  • Review change records and service requests to ensure timely engineer assignment, accurate work flow documentation and successful completion.
  • Improve change record and service processes and procedures.
  • Look for and address trends that could affect network stability and utilization.
  • Responsible for delivery of the annual technology plan, providing analysis of hardware/software and technology to support Macy’s business needs. Plan will include both short term requirements including cost estimates. as well as long term strategic network direction.
  • Responsible to lead engineering team in the delivery of complex and custom solutions.
  • Partner with Macy’s on technical and financial plans, overall network stability and utilization planning.
  • Bring together technical resources and collaborate with sales to develop and review technical solutions to provide technical, resource and financial responses to meet Macy’s business needs.
  • Partner with both internal and external resources to collect information on the latest network innovations and then provide ongoing, regular strategic planning sessions with Macy’s executives.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of telecommunications technologies including MPLS, SIP, ACME SBC, Meeting Place, IP Voice, CUPM, CUCM, UCCX, ENUM, WAAS and SpectraLink.
  • Experience with ISDN, DSL, Wireless, T1, T3 and Ethernet.
  • Experience with Network Disaster Recovery Planning.
  • Ability to use scripting to facilitate automation of certain network change activities.
  • Strong knowledge of network monitoring tools (NMM, Cisco WAN Manager, SolarWinds, NetScout, RMON probes).
  • Strong understanding of the overall industry direction with regard to telecommunication technologies and the applications they will support.
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco products (ISR, ASR, ASA, Meraki).
  • Strong knowledge of SDWAN products (CloudGenix, Versa, or Viptela).
  • Knowledge of Remedy trouble-ticketing database system used for Service Requests, Incident.
  • Records and Change Management.
  • Extensive experience in design, implementation, capacity planning and analysis, management, and troubleshooting of multiprotocol networks.
  • Technical Networking certifications.
