What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking communications leader with strong traditional, digital and social media experience to join its Corporate and Brand Communications team.

Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate, Brand and Verizon Media Communications, the Director ofCorporate Communicationswill set thestrategic vision and leadallcommunications operationsin support of Verizon’s corporate, finance, development and strategy functions.

Specifically, this role will:

  • Define and build Verizon’s corporate communications competency
  • Work closely with corporate leaders to understand key priorities and focus areas for internal and external communications
  • Lead a team responsible for developing and executing strategic360 communications plans for Verizon’s corporate priorities across earned media and owned/operated platforms
  • Oversee quarterly earnings, M&A, treasury, annual report, Verizon Ventures, corporate partnership, strategy, real estate, legal and diversity & inclusion announcements
  • Manage development of press materials including releases, op-eds, talking points, speeches, articles and social media content
  • Serve as media spokesperson
  • Build innovative content strategies and oversee technology support for Verizon’s corporate website (www.verizon.com/about)
  • Partner across teams and business units tobuild Verizon-wide narratives and coordinated campaigns – proactive and reactive
  • Manage agency partners and team budget
  • Build and invest in a strong support team to execute the above

The position will be based out of Basking Ridge and NYC with travel as needed.

What we’re looking for...

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, preferably Journalism/Public Relations/Communications, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience working with c-level executives and across a matrixed organization
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Extensive writing experience
  • Digital/social media savvy
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Results oriented, strong sense of urgency, collaborative, proactive and flexible
  • Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines

The ideal candidate will have a mix of skills and experience that include a deep understanding and demonstrated success with creating core narratives, corporate and financial media relations, crisis communications, a working knowledge of digital and social media platforms and content strategies, managerial leadership (lead a team of direct reports) and executive exposure.
