What you’ll be doing...

As a member of Skyward’s design team you will be embedded with the product and engineering teams and contribute throughout the entire product development life cycle. You’ll be designing web and mobile experiences for current and new products. You are responsible for creating whatever it takes to get the job done – from whiteboard doodles, diagrams, wireframes and high fidelity comps, to production-ready assets.

So, the question on your mind… is this job UI? UX? Or Visual Design? Some of it depends on your skillset and experience. As part of a small team, it will likely require proficiency in all three — a full-stack designer if you will. Show us what you’ve got and together we’ll define primary and secondary roles.

  • Practice user-driven design by involving users at all stages of the design process to uncover user needs, goals and insights.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to ensure the delivery of solutions which are both technically feasible and deliver real business value.
  • Perform user research through listening, inquiring and digging deep to fully understand and document the user’s needs.
  • Create an intelligent user flow to accomplish tasks while fitting into the larger platform.
  • Design beautiful and consistent mobile and web interfaces.
  • Work directly on a scrum team to deliver iterative design along a roadmap.
  • Build rapid prototypes to test solutions and present multiple options to the team.
  • Build high fidelity prototypes for demonstrations, including customer-facing.
  • Help manage and expand the shared design and pattern libraries.

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of product design experience – focused on designing mobile and responsive web applications.
  • Portfolio of work demonstrating breadth and depth in UX and visual design. This should also include approach and process.
  • Expert in Sketch (although we’re currently looking into Adobe XD).
  • Strong in Photoshop, Illustrator and other Adobe Creative Suite tools.
  • Understand limitations of web technologies including: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.

Even better if you have:

  • Familiar with design sprints and working in an agile environment.
  • Experience designing enterprise level applications.
  • Experience building prototypes, ideally using Marvel.
  • Experience creating development ready assets.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills articulating your design choices to a larger group.
  • Will devote themselves to understanding Skyward’s customers and their needs.
  • Will take personal responsibility for ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Will understand when a high fidelity functional mockup is needed versus a wireframe or a whiteboard scribble.
  • Will be determined and committed to perform at highest quality and excellence.
  • Will be entrepreneurial and will successfully challenge existing paradigms. Will have a vision and will think expansively and outside the box to consistently generate and evaluate highly innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Will be willing to take risks, will anticipate the consequences of decisions and will generate plans to address them.
  • Will hit short-term goals and keep long-term projects moving forward
