What you’ll be doing...

You will be responsible for the proper operation of a large group of wireless Network Elements. Your goal will be to ensure the integrity of high availability network infrastructure to provide maximum performance for customers. Your role will include monitoring, completion, and analysis of drive tests, verification of new software loads and other network reconfigurations and upgrades, and the specification and acceptance of antenna, cell site, and DAS modifications, additions and deletions. You will also be responsible for hardware functionality for all Macro, Small Cells, Distributed Antenna Systems and CRAN. You will support interdepartmental objectives, to include preventative and remedial maintenance, installation, optimization, building and ground upkeep, and integration of network hardware and interconnect facilities that includes the financial responsibility of reviewing services performed by vendors. You will also train existing field assurance team members on system performance related tasks.

  • Integrate and activate new service including macro / micro, small cells, distributed antenna systems and network facilities deployed in market.
  • Perform all drive testing activities required to support the network build program (new cells, EVDO, CDMA and LTE carrier additions, etc.) including data collection activity and post processing of the data to establish acceptable service levels.
  • Monitor network performance (using SMS alerts, Real Time Tools, stats reports) and respond to system problems.
  • Review key performance metrics of all services recently activated and existing network elements.
  • Analyze sites on a sector / cell site level using network tools to determine if any PIM / interference is present.
  • Turn up new sites and carrier additions to include handovers and E911 Testing.
  • Analyze network coverage to ensure contiguous communication and network integrity.
  • Review, manage and facilitate the financial procurement of vendor services that includes PO / invoice responsibility.
  • Maintain inventories of test equipment, base station, and transmitters.
  • Utilize OTDR, OLTS, and related test equipment to troubleshoot and test fiber.
  • Performinstallation, optimization, and preventative and remedial maintenance on all base station and transmitter equipment.
  • Performroutine building and grounds maintenance and inspections.
  • Participate in on-call rotation within a specified coverage area,working various shifts.
  • Participate in mobile unit deployments.
  • Perform both hardware and software updates and/or changes to remote site equipment as necessary.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and Office.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Even better if you have:

  • A technical degree.
  • CCNA.
  • Strong knowledge of LTE technologies, DAS equipment, Small Cell equipment, IP networking and VoLTE.
  • Understanding of call processing (originations, handoffs) and data networking (switching/routing, TCP/IP).
  • Antenna design and propagation knowledge.
  • Understanding of interference detection and correction techniques.
  • Familiarity with RF data collection/analysis tools and RF test equipment (e.g. DataPro, Actix, frequency scanners, spectrum analyzers).
  • Experience andelectronics training in one or more of the following fields: Wireless telecommunications, IP networking, System Performance / Network Analyst.
  • Experience with Lucent, Motorola, Nortel, LTE / CDMA data.
  • Experience with Ethernet backhaul, fiber optic testing / configuration.
  • Computer support experience includingPC hardware and configurations, troubleshooting, and power.
  • Experience with Galaxy, Lorain, DC distribution systems, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Dark Fiber and CRAN concepts and operations.
  • Understanding of IP networking including routing protocols and router interface and configuration.
