What you’ll be doing...

In order to lead the aeronautical internet of things and enable the continuing expansion of commercial UAS operations, Skyward must provide high quality products to our customers. The Quality Assurance Automation Engineer is a critical player in this mission. This role will define test plans and create automated functional, system, and regression tests specifically for cloud-based applications. The role not only ensures the quality of the shipped product but also drive the efficiency of the releases via automation.

What you’ll be doing...

As a QA Automation Engineer you will enforce quality assurance standards and execute test plans with a focus on ensuring our apps remain at the highest quality. You will contribute to automated test suites to ensure system quality and performance. You will use industry standard testing tools to ensure on-time, high-quality releases. You will test the Skyward platform across operating systems, devices, and browsers while keeping an eye on quality, performance, and usability. You will write clear, effective bug reports and track issues through their lifecycle. You will advocate for Skyward’s customers, ensuring they have a delightful experience using the Skyward platform as they run their drone businesses around the world.

● Rigorously test the Skyward Software Platform across browsers, operating systems, and

devices to ensure on-time, high-quality releases

Build, execute, and maintain automated and manual tests to verify the quality of the software platform

● Review pull requests to ensure code quality

● Serve as a QA representative on a Scrum team

● Document test plans and environments to be run by self and others

● Understand customer workflows and incorporate that knowledge into the test plans

● Document defects and issues clearly in Jira with examples, replication steps and other

information sufficient for an engineer to address

● Advocate for new tools, technologies, and learning to increase software quality team’s effectiveness

● Recommend usability improvements that facilitate Skyward’s customers accomplishing their

work quickly and easily

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have:

● Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience

Two to eight years in a full-time software quality assurance testing role testing web-based apps

Two to eight years writing QA automation tests for cloud-based apps with tools such as Selenium, Cypress.io, JMeter, etc.

● Experience working with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, Java, SQL, React, etc.

Even better if you have:

● Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Aviation, or related technical discipline.

● Aviation experience (FAA sUAS or Private Pilot Certificate, airspace knowledge, ability to read VFR sectional charts, operating UAS, etc.).

● Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills

● Experience using bug and issue tracking systems

● Experience using test case management software

● Experience working on Agile teams utilizing Scrum practices

● Ability to work in a highly collaborative fast-paced team environment

● Aptitude and desire to learn new skills

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills

● Aviation experience highly desired

● Ability to develop a deep understanding of the commercial UAS marketplace and customers’
