What you’ll be doing...

Customers expect our networks to perform at a high level all the time. That’s where you come in. You will investigate, evaluate and resolve network and data performance issues to ensure optimal and reliable service for our customers. The work you’ll be doing will directly impact customer satisfaction and help keep us ahead of the competition.

  • Evaluating service performance trends and isolating root causes of impacted services.
  • Performing VoLTE testing and analyses of relevant key performance indicators.
  • Coordinating technical investigations and testing with appropriate regional, area and HQ functions.
  • Providing technical analysis, troubleshooting, and training assistance to markets and regions as requested.
  • Optimizing LTE and RAN networks using traditional and innovative means.
  • Investigating and resolving customer complaints regarding service.
  • Integrating new cell sites, small cells, and DAS systems into existing macro network.
  • Being the In-Building solutions expert for the assigned area. Ensuring smooth integration of new services and technologies into the network.
  • Working with Traffic and RF engineers to identify and kick off new search areas for In-building solutions and/or upgrades for existing In-building solutions. Prioritizing multiple high-visibility projects to meet submarket build plan goals.
  • Performing on and off site evaluation and designing of In-building systems ranging in size and scope. Leading on-site design visits, integration and commissioning for In-buildings and working through the process to get the project to completion in a timely manner.
  • Releasing designs and supporting them through the project lifecycle including: design, drawing reviews, EME analysis, regulatory submissions (FCC/EME), 911 submissions.
  • Interfacing with Real Estate, Construction, Transport and Regulatory teams to ensure that Verizon’s network quality and financial objectives are met by deploying the right In-building solutions.
  • Working closely with the System Performance Team to monitor and optimize In-building parameters to ensure smooth handoff with macro and small cells.
  • Working with Performance/Engineering/Operation teams to identify and correct issues that negatively impact our customers.
  • Working with Network Assurance, Sales & the NRB to provide timely analysis and resolution of customer problems.
  • Proactively looking for areas to improve overall network performance; providing technical leadership through analysis, troubleshooting and training of market and submarket engineers as needed. Working closely with Maintenance Engineering, HQ, and Planning teams to stay up-to-date with the latest product deployment standards and strategies for In-buildings.
  • Working independently on more complex operational or technical projects. Working on more difficult issues, systems, problems, and applications. Using experience, expertise, and skills to make recommendations/solve problems that are more difficult and infrequent.
  • Partnering with Sales teams to find solutions that fit the customers’ needs and align with VZW goals and direction.
  • Developing detailed knowledge of LTE and utilizing this knowledge to guide the sub-market towards making correct decisions as we deploy and optimize LTE across multiple carriers and platforms.

What we’re looking for...

You have a strong customer service orientation. You like to take ownership of an issue and resolve it successfully. You are able to understand and evaluate a complex problem and present solutions. You work well independently as well as effectively with diverse business teams and vendors to implement solutions.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to work occasional night or weekend as needed.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or related discipline.
  • RF design experience.
  • Cellular or telecommunications industry experience.
  • Experience with LTE including VoLTE and RAN networks.
  • Knowledge of 5G, LTE and CDMA technology.
  • Experience with DAS systems, design and optimization.
  • Experience with In-Building design and monitoring tools, such as Atoll, IBWave, Site Portal, RTT and ALPT.
  • Knowledge and experience with data analysis/post-processing tools such as Windcatcher/Actix/TEMS Discovery.
  • Knowledge and experience of one or more data collection tool such as Datapro or TEMS Symphony.
  • Experience and Certification on DAS OEM platforms such as Corning, Commscope, Teko/JMA, SpiderCloud, and Nokia MBI.
  • Strong statistical and analytical abilities.
  • Developed automation algorithms and/or methodologies to increase network efficiency, working knowledge of programs and applications such as Python and Tableau.
  • Knowledge of 3GPP LTE standards.
  • Decision making skills (making appropriate use of available information and data, making sound decisions independently, and being responsible for specific projects or definable portions of larger projects or processes).
  • Leadership skills (commitment to excellence, demonstrating company values and policies, initiating action, accepting responsibility for results, and making quality decisions).
  • Flexibility to attempt alternate solutions to resolve issues and seamlessly adjust to a dynamic, changing business environment.
  • Organizational and project planning skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, listening attentively, and integrating large volumes of information from multiple sources.
  • Ability to understand, compile, evaluate, and present complex data and solutions.
